The intertwined lives of two couples become complicated and deceitful when Paul accepts his repressed sexual identity, causing them all to find a new normal.
From the director
I believe that filmmaking is one of the prime examples of what people are capable of when they can fully commit to an idea and trust one another. I am excited at the opportunity that I finally get to make a film, but this isn’t without community and a great effort to raise funds or recognize the privilege it is to be able to make a film.
By the time this film is completed it will have been 15 years of an effort coming to fruition. I am purely focused on telling this story to the best of my ability, and to paraphrase the late great David Lynch, “It has nothing to do with starting a career … it all has to do with the loving of doing.” This dream fulfillment will provide an opportunity for collaborators and myself to have space and express ourselves.
The lessons we learn as we make things are the lessons we then go out and carry with us. It took every second, every connection, and every lesson learned to build up to this present moment for this film to start to exist. It means the world for you to consider supporting our film!

A Door That Opens Wide will be shot over nine months in seasonal “blocks,” starting in November 2026 and wrapping with a final week in July 2027.
